DENTAL EXAMINATION AND HYGIENE

In order to ensure adequate oral health, the Canadian Dental Association recommends an examination and a complete dental cleaning every 6 (six) months. This is recommended even if you maintain good daily dental hygiene.

What is a Dental examination by your dentist?

 A dental exam is a complete examination of your teeth, gums and mouth.  This helps diagnose gum diseases, cavities, damaged fillings, broken teeth, infections, warning signs of oral cancer, and any other oral health problem. During this examination, many small conditions can be detected and treated in a very short period of time.

Why is a Professional cleaning so important?: 

Professional cleaning is the only way to remove tartar and plaque build-up on your teeth. If not removed, this build-up of plaque can cause gum diseases. The main stages of cleaning are scaling and polishing. Scaling involves removing tartar and plaque build-up from the teeth. Polishing consists of smoothing and cleaning the surface of the teeth.
