Sealants, also known as dental sealants, are made of a plastic substance that is applied to the chewing (occlusal) surface of the molars and premolars, the permanent back teeth, to help shield them from the bacteria and acids that cause tooth decay. Dental sealant is something all parents should be aware of! Due to the pit and fissure on top of molar teeth, which can easily trap germs and food debris, in order to stop additional dental cavities, it is preferable to cover them.
